Picture Tuesday

We haven't updated much, because things are progressing nicely here on the home front. Yesterday we went for a walk around the always beautiful Boulevard Park, so I thought I'd share a few photos. Here's the crew: Keith & Eulalah Craswell, Mom & Dad and me. The backlit pictures are always the hardest. Don't they look like a band in this pose? I thought so, so I turned it into an album cover. I'm not sure what kind of music they would play, but no doubt it would include piano, gut bucket, and some harmonic singing. Dad saw his shadow, but wasn't frightened so here comes Spring! A rest during the walk. Always love those silhouette shots: Posted by Martin at August 31, 2004 09:09 AM

I love those shots. Makes me wish that we lived in Bellingham. (Don't tell Chuck.)

Keep healing, Don. You look great!

Hi guys - It looks like you are practicing for a little stroll in Juneau....or Skagway...or Ketchikan.... That's a good thing and very hopeful.

The album cover is a hoot. You have many hits to include in your album. How about naming one of your songs " Looking Good Good Looking"? You are an awesome family and I wish you the best with everyday everyone getting rest and strength. Nancy Fayram

Hmmm - as the duty listener, I seem to recall there was a gent seated on the floor strumming a tune on a carefully removed heat register cover in the old (original?) gutbucket band. Granted there was a haze of vino wafting over that event and it was a long time ago.

And as Mark Twain said, "When I was younger I could remember anything, whether it happened or not".

Don ~ I continue to be amazed - delighted - and deeply thankful for your progress.

Peggy's reference was to Thanksgiving Camp at Pilgrim Pines, the United Church of Christ Camp near Yucaipa, California in apple country. It was the site of my lifetime best pun: "Pilgrim Pines, an apple strewed dell"

Each evening we gathered in creek side lodge and sang. Mike Moore was the impresario on the heater grate. I brought my gut bucket because on it, one note sounded pretty much like another, and I was a drummer anyway.

It would not have made a pretty album, by my fuzzy memory of those good times is pristine!

Martin,

Charles just about fell off his seat laughing at that wonderful album cover. I wonder what the album cover title would be for dad's scar? (That is not a sugestion....okay, maybe it is...)

We are sitting in Charles's office at National University of Singapore. It is a heck of a lot fancier than his office at Univ. of California (which is not hard, since that one is in a basement). We are in hog heaven here and think we may never leave Singapore.

love to all,
Dani

Actually, the term Dani keeps using is "hog in shit," not "hog heaven." Given the scar photo, I believe all rules of propriety are out the window, so I can say it, even though it makes me feel a bit squeemish to write it, as it has been to listen to it, even for a boy from Montana. I prefer to say, "Singapore rocks."

I love the pictures, and am heartened at Don's speedy recovery and anticipate the band's upcoming reunion tour with great excitement.

Love,
Charles

Love the album cover! Glad to see you're up and walking around, Don.

Love,

You all look Mah-ve-lus! Love, prayers, and sunshine are great helpers in healing and you look like you've had an abundance of all. I really was opposed to the scar display (shuddering memories of LBJ) but I couldn't help myself and peeked. Quite tidy and nice, I must say, and I 've seen a lot of such things!
Continued blessings on you all!

I too have wonderful memories of heater grates and singing the moon up in Creek Lodge. Don, your fame lives on and the sound of your thumping gut-bucket backing up Zazel's, "Violate me in the Violet time" is strong and clear in the ethers of the universe.

Carson is here for a visit and sends her love - as do we all.
