Stepping Out...

Here's a shot of Dad from last night. He asked me to post it, and show off his new quilt. On the back it says: "Each knot is tied with a prayer by your fccb congregation for Donel McClellan, Bellingham, Washington, 2004. In stictches [the quilting circle at First Congregational, Bellingham] Joan, Karen, Carolyn, Phyllis, Mabel." Members of the church contributed squares, which are often signed by the people who contributed them. Dad loved the quilt, and was very touched by all the prayer and care that went into it. It looks like today may be the release day--all the tubes, drips, plastic and fluids are disconnected, and everything is moving along swimmingly. Dad says it is "perfectly grand to anticipate going home today, and even if it doesn't work out, the possibility is invigorating." Posted by Martin at August 26, 2004 06:58 AM

I came into work today and decided (as I do many times a day) to check the blog. I was rewarded by a most wonderful picture of Don with his beautiful new quilt, and Marilyn smelling the roses. Hard to believe that just a week ago I was checking the blog every hour for updates on the surgery. What a difference a week makes!!!! Amazing progress! Love and hugs to all of you. You are all incredible! Have a wonderful day!!!

What a beautiful day to (maybe) be going home.

One of your So Cal fan clubs is meeting today to cheer you on. Karen Duncan, Kay Bliss and I are getting together for a rare visit today. We have all been sharing news of your progress. Love to you Don - happy homecoming.

Hooray and hallelujah!!!!! I just talked with Charles and Dani, who will be leaving from Bellingham momentarily. They tell me that Donel has been released from the hospital and is now a "free man". The FCCB Freezer Ministry program will provide the McClellans with a few meals of homecoming food today seasoned with love and prayers from their church family.

How poor are they who have not patience! What wound did ever heal but by degrees. mike Neither a borrower nor a lender be; For loan oft loses both itself and friend, And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry. This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
