What a happy looking fellow. I hope to see a similar expression on all your faces when next we meet. I am going home now where I can't lurk quite so effectively. Still, in my heart I am hovering about celebrating each small improvement and probably wincing at those "uncomfortable" moments. (I always worry when the doctor types tell me that something is going to be uncomfortable. They are usually right!!!) Blessings on your heads! j

Donel--You and Marilyn have been in all our (Hal's, Robin's, Jesse's and my) thoughts and prayers, and that's saying something for the non-church going among my family. I am touched and enriched that you are continuing true to your essence in making this experience a series of teacheable moments for all of us as well as yourself. We send our love and support as you continue to heal. Mary

I've always appreciated the jokes that you tell in sermons, so I've been looking for a good one to send you. It isn't easy, since posting them on this blog means everyone will see them and that means they have to pass the test of not offending anyone. Which was kind of limiting me to knock-knock jokes. But I figured you needed a good joke about cancer, so I'm sending this one along in case you haven't heard it yet:
Doctor: I have bad news for you. You have cancer and Alzheimer's.
Patient: Well, at least I don't have cancer.
By the way, I'm discovering a new meaning to stewardship since you've been gone. Yesterday I did Time With Children, next week I usher, the week after that I am the liturgist and the following week I serve commmunion. Thanks for the opportunities.

Donel and family,
Here is a joke we like a lot. "When is a car not a car?" .......

"When it turns into a driveway."

Hope you like it as much as we do
