My Biological Calendar

finger_moons_web.jpg Following surgery I noticed small white bands on my fingers and toes. So far I haven't found a doctor who can explain them so I am left to my own devices. I presume that during and immediately after my surgery either the immune system was depressed which affected the color of nails, or some medication I was on created the effect. Judging by the width of the white bands and the normal growth of the nails I imagine they represent about a two week period. I have decided that when the nails are grown and the bands are clipped of it will be time for a celebration. I welcome ideas for an appropriate way of commemorating the restoration of ordinary nails. FIRE!

I too had rings on my fingers, but not from cancer treatment, but when I had toxic shock syndrome. I was told it related to liver and/or kidney's not functioning. The rings were ridges as well as a different color. Do your rings also 'cave in'?

When I went through radiation I visualized little scrub brushes cleaning my blood as it flowed. My treatments lasted only a minute or so, not very much time for visulization, but the timing was perfect as the radiation is killing cells, both bad cells and good cells. I figure it is like washing the floor, you have to wash every inch of the floor to clean it. Someday I am sure someone will discover how to clean only the dirty/bad parts, both on the floor and in our bodies.

Love, K
