Curiosity is a good sign!

I went to check in on dad around lunchtime. After smiling at me, the first thing he asked was if I had brought printouts from the blog! I assured him that when I returned this afternoon I would share all of your well wishes! The ICU nurse was very positive and said he's doing extremely well for someone who just went through the surgery he did. He was alternating breathing room air and getting a bit of oxygen when I went in. Mom is relaxing in the waiting room reading a book and by now eating a delivered deli sandwich (the hospital food can get a bit...shall we say...old...after awhile -- as impressed as we are by the selection). --Jeni Posted by Jeni at August 20, 2004 01:08 PM

Best of luck and a speedy recovery to you from everyone at Six Apart. :)

Thank you for your updates. We are so happy to be in the know, so we don't worry up here in the "ham".

The news just seems better and better! Annie LaMott says she prays basically three prayers:

(1) Please, please, please!

(2) Thank you, thank you, thank you!

(3) WOW!

I think all three are appropriate today!
Much Love to all,
Cheryll

Hello to Model Patient Donel, Llewellyn, and his wonderful family. We are church secretary Cindy's parents and have had the extreme pleasure of meeting Donel. He is the kind of person that you can talk to and share experiences with like an old friend when you are just meeting him for the first time. We have been including Donel in our prayers, like so many others, and are so pleased to be able to keep up on his progress through Bright Wings. We're sure it's not what he planned for a summer vacation, but it is apparent through his smiling pictures that he has met this situation as being God's will. We wish him happy healing and continued recovery in the days ahead. God's blessings to you all!

Don,

We're so glad that you made it through the surgery in such good shape and are feeling well enough to read the blog again. It sounds like you have the best team of loving attendants that anyone could hope for.

Rest well and heal -- I love you!

When you are flat on your back, the only way to look is "up", Don. Look carefully, I am sure there is a guardian angel sent to keep an eye on you. I am sending special love to your dear wife!!! Thanks Martin and Jenny for all the good news. Lovingly, E.C.

Don, I am so glad to hear that you are in my neighborhood! You are in excellent hands over at the medical center - I'm glad to hear that you are doing so well. I've been thinking about you and praying for you. I've been reading all of the postings and feeling very connected to the community of people who are surrounding you during this time. You have always had a gift of bringing people together and it is still true in this time. I feel stronger as a member of this community, and Don, I hope you do, too - because, that's why we're here.

Don,

Did you feel some "near-by" prayers and well wishes whirling into your room this morning around 11:30 or so? That is when Jack and I were visiting our daughter Marin and her husband who are on 6-S TRYING to deliver their first son. He is, however, being very hesitant about being born and we are all on hold for now. So, we'll be back, and those prayers will be right there again!

Believe me, our family certain knows the full impact of having the prayers and support of the wonderful congregation at FCCB behind you during the time of concern. I can't think of a better "base" team than they are, and am pleased to be adding my prayers to theirs as we all surround you and your family with loving thoughts. I am joined by 3 very dear prayer partners of many years as well as the prayer chain at BUMC... so we have you covered here on the "Eastside"

God bless you all....

What wonderful news for Day #2! I would expect nothing less of a (stubborn) McClellan. You know that I have "visits" from grama every once in awhile. I feel her very close to me today, and I know that she is sitting there with you all also. So watch the language! Please give Don a kiss on the forehead for me. Mom & I are hoping to be up to see you all next month. Keep the good news coming!

So very happy to hear all goes well. Donel, we had a good chuckle when we read that you asked for a printout of the blog. You are a true techno geek! Take care and get well soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Marilyn and your entire family.

Don- I am so glad to hear that you are doing so well. You have been a big part of my life though all you have done for my Granny and our family. As I am writing this now, my sister Marin is just one or two floor below you awaiting the birth of her baby boy. What a wonderful time this is knowing you are recovering so well and expecting my first nephew. Thanks be to God!

Lots of love - Amy Flores

Don,

It is wonderful to see all of the good news about your "Incredible Journey." We are thinking about you and all of your family gathered there, and we know you will have many unusual new words to use when you are able to rejoin the scrabble games.

Dear Uncle Don,

As you are well aware I know nothing about computers but fortunately I have my daughter- in-law Teresa to help me.

All of our thoughts and prayers are with you. Including Dewey who is in Amersterdam at the moment in one of those wonderful cafes.

I'll keep my advangelistic comments short and just pray for a quick recovery.

Love to the family.

Lots of love,
The Deckings

p.s. I'm going to be a grandmother close to "Labor Day" We do not know if it's going to be a girl or boy. Of course I'm VERY excited.

"The one thing the illness has convinced me of beyond all doubt is that we are much better than we know. We have unrealized capacities that sometimes emerge only in crisis. So if there is a purpose to the suffering that is cancer, I think it must be this: that it is meant to improve us."
